Overview

GeoConcepts realized that the everyday commute in Northern Virginia was stressful for employees. GeoConcepts designed a telework solution with the goal of recruiting and retaining skilled employees.

Process

GeoConcepts had no formal human resource department and no experience with the concept of teleworking. So when the company president recruited a highly desired candidate who requested to telework, he approached Telework!VA.

Results

Telework!VA paid for eighty percent of the expenses and offered the training the company needed to begin a program. Thanks to the new technology in place, field workers no longer waste valuable time physically delivering reports that can be faxed or emailed. Today only three employees work offsite, but GeoConcepts has been able to increase productivity significantly. And the telework plan continues to help the company attract and retain star employees.

Evaluation

Thanks to their telework program, GeoConcepts has enjoyed improved employee retention and efficiency. In addition to lower gas and highway toll expenses, the program reduced employee drive time by two hours or more, every day.
